The 2 Questions
The first and major question I want to scope out is: Is marketing a social science or a business objective?  This question was highly debated, and the definition of  "marketing" is still under scrutiny.  I want to uncover the reasons and points of each side of the argument.  To this day the term "marketing" is not clear.
The second question is how important is the Marketing department to a company and its objectives? This question is easily answered as there would be no selling of the product or relationship between buyer and seller without marketing.  Its the social force of a company and the way they reach out to their market on a personal level.

THose are very good questions, but i'm curious what lead you to pick marketing in the first place?
